Ring Fittings and Sizing
Whether it is everyday wear and tear, or something more serious, McCoy Jewelers offers a selection of fast and simple fine jewelry repair services, done completely on-site. With a staff of skilled and certified jewelry professionals, McCoy Jewelers offers repair services that range from regular cleaning to sizing and fittings!
For your ring to last a lifetime, it needs to fit. No exceptions. The way your ring fits on your hand is vital to keep the integrity of the ring strong. A lot of costly repairs, insurance claims, etc, are avoidable with a properly sized and fitted ring.
At McCoy Jewelers, we know finding the perfect ring size can be incredibly challenging. We want the ring to be comfortable to wear but snug on the base of your finger. This will prevent the ring from spinning or bending. When a ring spins, your center stone prongs can be knocked and damaged (or worse, the stone). When a ring is too big, it may bend out of shape causing accent stones to fall out, or for your shank to break in half (or both).
We have created a quick checklist to help you decide if your ring is too tight or too loose.
Your ring may be too tight if:
- There is swelling near your ring consistently.
- You are experiencing red, peeling skin on the finger.
- You are unable to get the ring off.
- Experiencing pain or discomfort in your hand or finger.
Your ring may be too loose if:
- Your ring is losing its perfectly round shape.
- It can slide off your knuckle with little to no resistance.
- Your ring is constantly spinning.
We highly recommend coming into our shop to confirm your ring size if you are experiencing any of the above situations with your ring.
At McCoy Jewelers, a ring sizing up (going up in size) starts at $90. A ring sizing going down (decreasing in size) starts at $71. To learn more about other repair services, click here.
